You know those songs that live forever, the songs you remember as tagged to the good times? Well – we've got 'em. The Lady Killers sang them last year, the Beat Girls the year before. In 2012 we are dragging stars from across the ditch but keeping a hometown theme. So hang on to your holiday groove!
Glenn Shorrock |
A self-confessed child of rock ‘n’ roll, Glenn Shorrock began his singing career in the early 60s with vocal group the Twilights. Axiom (with Brian Cadd) followed after the Twilights disbanded in 1969, with hits including Arkansas Grass and Little Ray of Sunshine. After moving to London in 1970 Axiom folded but Glenn chose to remain in London as a session singer and songwriter working with other ex-pats until 1974. Returning to Melbourne, Glenn helped form Little River Band as lead singer and in 1976 they cracked the lucrative United States market. In the following years, Little River Band enjoyed a string of eight Top Ten Hits in the US and around the world selling in excess of 25 million albums. Glenn left LRB in February 1982 but he was back fronting Little River Band during their 20th year anniversary, three and a half-month tour of the United States. His songwriting credits include the international hits Help is on its Way, Emma, Long Jumping Jeweller, Shut Down Turn Off, and Cool Change. Glenn’s lasted CD Spin Me ‘Round was released in 2000. As a testament to his enduring talent, Glenn has twice been inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame, once in 1991 in his own right and again with Little River Band in 2004 . Glenn continues to perform all over Australasia and overseas with his band both acoustically and electrically, notably with his production of “45 YEARS OF SONG” at the State Theatre in Sydney and the Regent in Melbourne in 2010, and in Adelaide for the 2011 cabaret festival. Mark Williams

Remember Mark's ‘fro back in the early 70s when he opened for the Ray Columbus hosted Free Ride?” These are the days of Happen Inn, and the boy from Dargaville was to storm the kiwi music charts with Yesterday was Just the Beginning of my Life. His self-titled Mark Williams album was to become the top selling poprock albums of the 70s. He remains in Australia but over the years has often joined with Sharon O’Neill and Glenn Shorrock to entertain crowds throughout Australasia. |
